Equipment calibration

To address this use of our products, we first need to remind you of some metrological terms. Indeed, the appropriate term to define the use of our products is "adjustment" and not "calibration".

If we take the definitions from the VIM (Vocabulaire International des termes fondamentaux et généraux de Métrologie - 2008 edition), here's what we'll find:

Definition of calibration

Calibration is an "operation which, under specified conditions, establishes in a first step a relationship between values and associated measurement uncertainties provided by standards and corresponding indications with associated uncertainties, and then uses in a second step this information to establish a measurement result from an indication".

The calibration stage consists in:

  • measuring the same quantity with equipment to be calibrated and at the same time with standard equipment,

  • comparing the indications of the two instruments,

  • using the results of this comparison.

The results of the calibration must make it possible either to assign the corresponding values of the quantity measured to the indications, or to determine the corrections to be applied to these indications.

Adjustment definition

Adjustment is a "set of operations performed on a measuring system so that it provides prescribed indications corresponding to given values of the quantities to be measured".
This is the operation you perform, in most cases, with TITRIVIN.

As, for a given parameter, the reference value of a TITRIVIN has an uncertainty. It is necessary to take this into account during this phase of adjusting your device.

You may need to assign the TITRIVIN a value within the confidence interval of the value given as reference [ Vref - i ; Vref + i ].

What is linearity?

Linearity is the ability of a method to give, within the measurement range selected, results proportional to the concentration of the compound sought in the wine.

It is studied for a ...
